Learn to Have More Self-Esteem

Self-Esteem

Some people have a lot of self-esteem and others lack this. Even though it can be something that someone learns, having self-esteem and building it is sometimes hard. There are some people that have a lot of self-worth. When they have more self-esteem, they will feel better about who they are and they will be able to deal with things such as rejection and failure. They are able to come back fast after being hurt.

People that have higher self-esteem have more cortisol and they have less stress. They are less vulnerable to being stressed an upset.

Even though having more self-esteem is healthy, this isn’t something that is always easy to do. Some people will try to build their own self and they will end up feeling worse than they did before.

The problem with self-esteem is that some people are not stable to start. They have hormones that make them feel different and life brings a lot of stress and complications. When this happens, we might not feel as strong as we thought at, we would. This means that having and increasing the self-esteem might not feel as good as we thought that it would or it might not be as easy to reach as expected.

Having better self-esteem is a good thing but you don’t want to have too much. Having too much can make you turn into a narcissist or make you feel that you are better than other people. Having an over abundance of self-esteem can make someone not be able to grow for the better or improve their life.

How to Improve Self-Esteem

Here are some ways that you can increase your self-esteem:

Positive Affirmations

Saying things like, “I am going to have a great day,” can be a good affirmation but when these things don’t happen, it can make the person feel even worse. When our self-esteem isn’t high, saying things or declaring things can make us not feel as positive as we think that it should. Those with high self-esteem will be able to use these affirmations for the better but those with low self-esteem will not be as successful. Try these positive affirmations instead:

  • I will have a successful day.
  • I will do what it takes to be more successful.

Developing Pride

You can develop your pride by doing things that you are good at. If you are a good cook, have a party and cook something. If you run well, join a race. Find things that make your pride grow.

Accepting Compliments

You can improve your self-esteem by accepting the complements that people give you. Some people will say things to you about how kind and caring you are. Accept these things for what they are. Don’t push away your compliments because you don’t feel that you deserve them.

Stop Criticizing Yourself

Self-esteem can make you build yourself up or criticize yourself more. Stop criticizing yourself because this can bring damage to who you are. Have compassion for yourself and make sure that you are being a friend to yourself.

Allow yourself to say nice things and complement the good things that you do. You will hurt yourself even more when you criticize who you are and what you are doing.

Allow Your Worth

You can make a list of the things that you are good at. Read this list every day and see that you have more qualities than you even realized. Even if you have been hurt or rejected, you can see that you are really valuable. You might have these qualities:

  • Being responsible.
  • Being ethical.
  • Being emotional available.
  • Being loyal.

Look at these things that you are good at and appreciate it. Appreciate the things in yourself that are things that you appreciate in others.

Final Thoughts

Self-esteem is important but sometimes you have to work to make it stronger for you. You can have a healthy emotional life and you can do this so that you can build yourself up on a daily basis.
